Snow crab is a crustacean that is distributed throughout the Sea of Japan. Also called Matsuba crab or Echizen crab, it has 10 legs.
Fishing is lifted in winter, which is the season, but there are restrictions on the fishing period for males and females. The caught snow crab will be distributed to the market as it is, and can be purchased by mail order.
Most of the snow crabs are cooked, but if they are freshly caught, the sashimi is good and the crab shabu-shabu is a must-have item. Part of the landed food is processed into cans, and if it is a crab can, it is delicious to cook with crab porridge, fried crab, or canned pasta.
Also, many people misunderstand the king crab, which is thought to be a type of crab. In fact, the king crab is not a crab but a hermit crab, and is a different species from the snow crab.
